BVI in CONCACAF Under 20 Tournament
TORTOLA--The British Virgin Islands’ Under 20 Football team will face Grenada at 2 p.m. today in the 2009 CONCACAF qualifying tournament at the Panteen Recreational Grounds in St. Georges, where it will also they will also face St. Vincent and Guyana, in the tournament that runs from today through Sunday. Team BVI will face St. Vincent and the Grenadines at 2 p.m. on Friday and Guyana at 2 p.m. on Sunday, before returning home on Monday.

The BVI Football Association was founded in 1974 and became a member of Federation of International Football Associations in 1996. Becoming members of FIFA has been an achievement on its own. It came with great sacrifice on behalf of a few, but has reaped benefits to all footballers in the B.V.I due to the impetus of funding and technical support that can be accessed from FIFA. Despite the financial and technical assistance that came with our membership in FIFA, the football association has not been able to move forward. Our success as a football association had been impede by a lack of physical infrastructures, poor political structure, a lack of cooperation from the membership, and the lack of a clear vision that is understood and supported by the organization as a whole.

FIFA APPROVES NEW CONSTITUTION FOR THE BVI FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
The international federation FIFA has issued high praises for the quality of work that when into the preparation of the BVI Football association new constitutional documents. The BVI Football Association was directed to redraft their constitution to confirm with international standards as laid down by FIFA. FIFA has approved the new document to be taken before the membership of the BVI Football Association for ratification.
The BVI Football association has announced November 28th as the date when the association will meet in an extra ordinary general meeting, to ratify the constitutional documents. Elections of officers for a four year term will follow the ratification. All ordinary members, honorary members, and other stakeholders are asked to please take note of the meeting date.
Copies of the documents will be available at the BVI Football Association Headquarters from Thursday 8th November or in electronic format by calling the General Secretary Mr. Kenrick Grant at 494 5655.

BVI Victorious in St.Martin
In their first competition for 2007, the BVI Senior Men team emerged victorious in the St.Martin Day Football Tournament held in St.Martin over the weekend. On Saturday the BVI came up against the Attackers of St.Martin, who replaced Guadaloupe, after Guadaloupe withdrew from the tournament on friday. The BVI defeated the Attackers two goals to one. Rohan ChiChi Lennon got both goals in the second half for a come-from-behind win for the BVI. On Sunday, Avandale Williams scored from a brilliantly taken solo run in their second match to defeat the St.Martin National team one goal to nil. The BVI Team returned to the BVI with the championship trophy and a brilliant start to their 2010 worldcup preparation. Coach Vincent Samuel praised the young members of the squad, for performing up to standard. The BVI Team was comprised of nine new players and six experience members. 'I am please that the young BVIslanders are blending in very well into the team' Mr. Samuel when on to say. The draw for the worldcup takes place in December 2007, when the BVI will know who their first opponent in this prestigious tournament will be. The BVI will play the first leg of the worldcup playoffs in February and the return match in March 2008.

BVIFA LAUNCHES CONTINUOUS COACHES EDUCATION
The BVI Football Association has implemented a continuous coaching education program to aid in the development of youth coaches. The program will be conducted on Tortola and on Virgin Gorda, by BVI staff coache Lenroy ‘Left’ Henry.
